CORNEJAS MEETING

Last saturday August 8, the Club held a meeting in “La Ribera de Corneja” Rural Center at Navacepedilla de Corneja. Thirty members of the club met in order to handle in accounts and reports and discuss this year´s projects as well as future actions.
Thanks to the presence of the members and their creative and valuable contributions, the meeting was a big success and represents a step forward in the way to increase and consolidate flying activities in Piedrahita.
As a first achievement we can mention the improvement of the take off at Peña Negra wich has increased significantly safety for pilots in such a delicate moment as the launch. Pedrahita´s Town Hall has committed to seed grass in the landing strip during the next fall. We still have to decide the use we are going to give to the hut which has been repaired.
We are looking forward to our next meeting with the town hall to find out ith there is any chance to try the south take off at Solana de Avila. Approximately a month ago, the Environment Territorial Service (Junta Castilla y León) gave us permission to fly in this place; however, until all the permits are issued we are not allowed to fly.
In order to avoid free camping at Piedrahita and its surrounding area, last year we suggested the fitting out of the football field (vegetation, showers, bathrooms, parking spots,etc…) to turn it into the club´s head office. Both, business men and Piedrahita´s town hall, are working to find the way to go forward with this project; we are arranging meetings and waiting for the result of this negotiations.
Visits to the web have increased even more since it has been included in the German Hang-gliding and Paragliding Association (DHV) and we are also receiving many visits from Czech Republic. We are looking forward to your contributions for the website (articles, news, posts, pictures, videos, etc…).
